I think we should aim to get a privacy statement in place for the next release. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! |
@seandunn thanks for writing this up. What you've noted looks ok to me. |
Im curious to what we are actually collecting as well. |
well there was insight. i dont know if thats still running or reporting anywhere if it is |
Should we still do this or does anyone care? |
We still have insight code tracking some stuff, but I don't know if anyone ever looked at the GA board... I know I didn't... @addyosmani ? |
Is that still running? Who has access to it other than maybe Addy? |
I don't think I still have access. Let me check. |
I still have access on GA and can add any team members that are interested. Here's the type of data being collected (last 4 days): This gives us insight into:
The graphic doesn't go into too much depth, but if someone on the team wanted to dig further into the data there may be some interesting insights into usage trends still available. |

Personally I don't think we still need any kind of GA / user analytics at this point. |
I am +1 on this, maybe we should remove any analytics from the website? Worse case we can just use Cloudflare as DNS for basic analytics 🤔 |
Hi All,
Yeoman currently gathers anonymous information to help improve the
project which, IMHO, is a good thing.
At the current time however there's no clear statement of what's collected, who
it's shared with or how to control this information gathering once the
initial generator has been run.
This is just a suggestion but it would be nice to make things a bit
clearer by adding a project privacy statement.
As a starter, I think that any project privacy statement should include:
Additionally there should be a clear way to turn off information
gathering off and how to turn it on latter.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Sean.
