  1. Install MakeCode extension
  2. Install Liveshare addon
  3. Share the makecode coding session with a friend
  4. Code editing session works well.

However, there are few issues.

  • Extension doesn't get installed by default for the remote session (Not sure this is Live share issue or MakeCode)
  • Even if the user installs the extension it doesn't reflect the new assets created during the live session

Mail from the live share contact

Hi @Abhijith

Our extension for the remote participant is not installed by default (at least not even a prompt to install). Is this by design?
The extension has to be actively installed by all participants. We don’t do any automatic installation on the guest side.

We have extension state which shows up various assets but not reflected to the remote host even if the extension is installed. Is there some work needed on the extension make this scenario work?
As Mike mentioned, there would be work involved.
One extension that has enabled this is the Draw.io Integration extension.
You can try out that extension’s collaborative editing by:
• Installing the extension on host and guest.
• creating a file e.g. “example.drawio”.
• start a live share session and open that file.
You’ll find references to Live Share in their source code.
