This PR uses unittest, not pytest. These will work (pytest can run unittest), but they are a little more work to write, and Selfie's first target is going to be pytest, not unittest.

• convert this back to a draft
• modify to pytest instead of unittest (chatpgt is great at this)
• mark as ready again
