This is taken from the OpenAlex documentation:

Journal articles will have a primary_location.source.type of journal
Conference proceedings will have a primary_location.source.type of conference
Preprints or "posted content" will have a primary_location.version of submittedVersion

(however, distinction between journal and conference is tricky according to the docs)

i.e. we need to filter at least on type:article,primary_location.version:!submittedVersion when calculating expected citations.
