Currently, the selection state of cells isn't taken into account when the color/gradient specified in the BackgroundColor and BackgroundGradient properties are applied. This needs to be fixed.
Fixing this may also mean new SelectedColor and SelectedGradient properties would be useful. Investigate the viability of those while fixing this issue.
