According to the Microsoft docs and other articles I've come across, when creating an XAPO effect, you can override the LockForProcess() method in order to obtain information about the audio format before you start processing via the Process() method on the real-time thread. This allows the effect to adapt to different formats, maybe create some data structures etc. ahead of actual processing.
However, the LockForProcess() method in AudioProcessorBase is not virtual.
