Hi @nicoverbruggen , 4.1 is looking great congrats, here are just a few small ideas/suggestions:

Smaller text in both titles and paths
Less top and bottom padding
Double click to open in browser or maybe make the link icon clickable

Strange:
On right click doesn't show option to open in code editor, I see this on your YouTube video but is not available on my beta version

I definitely agree that the information density can be improved in the site list! I was going to give that a second pass for sure. Thank you for the specific advice!

What editor are you using? If you're using Visual Studio Code you need to make sure code is in your PATH.

You can accomplish this by following the steps here: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/mac#_launching-from-the-command-line (PHP Monitor attempts to launch Visual Studio Code from the command line). Once you've done that, quit and restart PHP Monitor and the option to open using VS Code should appear.

If you're using PhpStorm via JetBrains Toolbox... That's a known issue. I've got a fix for that coming in the next beta!

Im using VScode, followed the steps and is showing now, thanks, strange never had to do this before, normally is a select in preferences.

I do notice that php monitor is taking longer to launch, maybe is refreshing the site list before opening?

As for VS Code... well, other apps probably don't use code from the command line, so I might change the way VS Code is started. I use a different approach for PhpStorm, for example.

Yeah, ever since 4.0 there’s more initial checks that run to ensure your PHP installations are okay. That's slowed down the app a bunch. I'm looking into optimizing that at the moment :)

Thanks Nico, in my case, checking that PHP installations are ok is excellent, but if it also does the site list, I think is better to leave that until the sites window is open (just my humble opinion)

Scanning for sites should be really fast! I've made a few changes and uploaded beta 4, can you let me know if the updated build is faster? It also contains some of the visual changes based on your feedback :D

My 2017 MacBook has seen better periods, but:
To open and show the truck in the menu it took about 8 seconds
Clock in the truck disappear after 2-3 seconds
Reloading site list about 11 seconds (note: my sites are in different parts, inside of dropbox, maybe that is something interfering, but strange because valet links in terminal is fast in ms)

Ah, Dropbox is notorious for slowing down FS access. What happens if you turn Dropbox off and try reloading sites again? Is it faster? Could be 20% faster in my experience, that's why I switched to Maestral... 😛

Anyway, if it's literally taking 11 seconds to reload that list, I agree that loading linked & parked sites only needs to happen when the list loads for the first time, so that was a good call you made earlier. (I wasn't sure how much slowdown you were seeing.)

I am curious though, how many sites (roughly) do you have linked & parked? How quickly does valet links and valet parked take to give you a list of sites? Is that much faster?

Edit: I've confirmed that it's actually running valet which that causes the biggest slowdown — this determines the driver.

Sorry Nico, I wrote the message and it didn't send it. don't worry about the speed is probably my computer, it's seen much much better days a signal to move to apple silicon

valet links and valet parked are about 800ms in terminal

Im going to check Maestral, I love dropbox but I have notice that the dropbox desktop app sucks

Nico another small idea, since "view domains" is probably one of the most important things, why not moved up? also, since is starting to look a little crowded, why not move "restart.." into manage.. (orange line)

On the domain list, maybe is would be cool to make the link icon open the browser

So in the latest build, you can double click on any item in the list and that'll open it in the browser. No need to specifically click on any of the icons.

You can also right-click and you'll get a bunch of more options, too.

As far as reorganisation of the menu is concerned, it's something I'm looking into later! I've created #69 for this.
