Looks to me like the former is the case. It'd be nice to implement the latter, if sensible.

Unless you only buy one big chunk and that's it, you should usually have more than 1 output. As long as you don't use more than one input when it's not needed, it should just kinda work.
"Looks to me like the former is the case." said this mostly because of some tests on one of my accounts, but yeah, if more than one input is supplied, it looks like it generally leaves more than one output - but I'm not sure if, when one needs to use all those outputs, more than one output is left.
