Issue for the following TODO:

jupyterlab-browser-storage/src/file.ts

Lines 21 to 25 in 567ee3f

    
           const TYPES: Record<string, Partial<IRenderMime.IFileType>> = JSON.parse( 
        
             // TODO: read from the settings? 
        
             // PageConfig.getOption('fileTypes') || '{}' 
        
             '{}' 
        
           );

The extension should have a list of known file types (like in JupyterLite now).

But also let users configure additional file types.
