X (formerly twitter) account looks obsolete (when it is not) #4530
Comments
Hello @gounthar @darinpope @MarkEWaite @alyssat (sorry Alyssa I initially forgot you had a GitHub handle), it looks like this issue is related to the Evangelist and/or board teams as there are no actionnables for the infra team. |
I see the same content as what @jtnord mentioned above, when not logged in. Once i'm logged into X tweets are up to date. This is the info when asked uncle Google :) Yes, as of recent updates, X (formerly Twitter) requires users to log in to their account to see the latest tweets on a smartphone; you cannot view the timeline without being signed in. |
https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitter/comments/1awp02k/why_do_some_accounts_when_not_logged_in_show_in/ Looks like the only way to fix it is with a gold tick which costs 4 figures a month. close as won't fix? |
Thanks a lot for diagnosing, @alyssat. 🙏 |
would something as simple as pinning the last tweet not be useful (and then unpinning when a new tweet is published). |
I don't think its pinned its based on number of likes
|
I am talking about the ability to "pin" a tweet and where it is ordered. For example https://x.com/travisband shows the pinned tweet at the top for me (and its not a gold tick, just a blue one)? |
Worth a try |
I've pinned the post https://twitter.com/jenkinsci/status/1889422580584685904 |
That worked for me |

Summary
probably an X thing, but it looks like https://x.com/jenkinsci is unmaintained and contains obsolete content.
(when you are not logged in).
So users following the link from the website footer see obsolete content.. looks very different on my mobile when I am authenticated.
Not sure there is anything we can do that is in our control, but maybe pinning (and unpinning) some more recent posts may help? (I have zero idea how X decides what posts to show, but it appears to be based on likes?)
