AWS CLI configuration merge\extend

Using multi-account architecture, AWS CLI configuration file include many profiles.
Is there a way not to configure each profile with the same configurations that exist in the default profile?

For instance, assume there are 100 profiles, were every 25 of them has the same configurations. Rather than configuring every 25 of them with the same configuration, can they extend and override configurations in other profile?

E.g., given the following config file

[default]
output = json
region = us-east-1
cli_timestamp_format = iso8601

[profile foo]
output = text

Is there any ability to make the foo profile have all the default profile configurations and only override the output configuration?

Hi @foolioo thanks for reaching out. You can use source_profile to source credentials from another profile but that does not source other configurations as noted in #3334. The feature request detailed in https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk/issues/215 may address your use case, if not you could consider opening other feature request.
