[6.7 HelpHub]: Document Settings #1788
Comments
Heads up @WordPress/docs-issues-coordinators, we have a new issue open. Time to use 'em labels. |
The Settings Sidebar is used to customize key aspects of the page or post being published. It is an essential component of the WordPress Block Editor. Previously introduced in WordPress 5.6 as "Document Settings," this sidebar has been renamed to "Page/Post Settings." Depending on whether you are working on a Post or Page, the sidebar tab is named accordingly. If you are working with a custom post type such as "Article," the tab will display the custom post type name. How to open the Page/Post Settings In the upper-right corner of the WordPress Editor, select the gear icon. This toggles the sidebar. Within the sidebar: The left tab features settings for the entire Page or Post you are working on. The right tab displays settings for the selected Block. Settings Sidebar The Settings Sidebar contains different sections based on your theme and installed plugins. Below are the default sections: Featured Image The Featured Image, also known as a Post Thumbnail, is used by themes to represent the post visually. Drag and drop an image or click Set Featured Image to open the Media Library. You can Replace or Remove the selected image anytime. Excerpt This optional section is available for post types with excerpts enabled. Excerpts provide a summary that may be used on homepages, archive pages, or search results. If left empty, WordPress auto-generates an excerpt using the first 55 words. Status and Visibility Draft: The post is not yet published. Pending Review: Marked for review before publishing. Private: Only visible to site admins and editors. Scheduled: The post will be published on a specified date. Published: The post is live and visible to all users. Password Protected: Requires a password for viewing. Sticky (New in 6.7): The sticky toggle for posts is now found in the Status and visibility popover. Publish
