I am asking for the exact same setting as is offered in Mail.app where you have the ability to select the number of lines of the content to show in the Preview List.

Mail.app offers 1, 2, 3 or zero lines of the content (outside of the title) to display in the preview list. I am interested in zero myself, but recreating that setting would be very useful.

I totally understand. One thing to know, though — the number of lines is the total of title plus content. This lets the title use multiple lines if needed, with content filling in, as needed, to get to the total number of lines.

This keeps the number of lines the same for each row, regardless of title length, which allows for same-height rows — which is nicer-looking than variable-height rows and allows for much faster scrolling performance.

What we could do — which we already do on iOS — is allow you to specify the total number of lines. (It’s 1-6 on iOS, which is probably reasonable for macOS too.)

What you describe is very interesting. From my point of view, the app will still keep a Preview List item the same height if there is no content and the full title is below line height. This is what happens to all the Youtube channels I follow, since there is literally no content to include underneath the title. When the title is below three lines, there's just a bit of whitespace below the title which is indeed not as nice, but still perfectly workable to my eyes. The app's fonts and line-height is well attuned so it works.

I guess with what you described, I would be much more interested in a toggle that would say something like Include content in Preview List. That toggle would not have any impact on height. It would simply not include anything other than the title in the Preview List.
